Short-term management of moderate to severe pain that requires opioid-level analgesia.
Toradol is not indicated for the treatment of chronic pain syndromes.
In adults, the total duration of multiple IM or IV Toradol applications should not exceed 5 days due to increased risk of side effects with longer use.
Maximum duration of IV infusion in adults should not exceed 24 hours.
In children, the total duration of parenteral Toradol use should not exceed 2 days.
In adults, short-term use of Toradol tablets is recommended (up to 7 days); long-term use is not indicated.
For adults, Toradol injection solution can be administered as a single or multiple intramuscular (IM) or IV bolus.
In children, Toradol solution may be administered as a single IM injection, with IV injections added if needed. IV route is preferred in children since IM can be painful.
The drug should be administered at the minimum effective dose, selected according to pain intensity and patient response. Opioids may be added at low doses if not contraindicated.
Before IV administration, correct hypovolemia; use only in patients with normal hydration and electrolyte balance.
IV administration should last at least 15 seconds. IM injection should be slow and deep.
Analgesic effect begins approximately 30 minutes after injection, with maximum effect in 1-2 hours.
Duration of analgesia is usually 4-6 hours.
Be prepared for hypersensitivity reactions, from bronchospasm to anaphylactic shock.
Toradol injections are not recommended for children under 2 years due to limited experience.
IM: Patients <65 years - 10-60 mg once, depending on pain severity.
Patients >65 years or with renal impairment - 10-30 mg once.
IV: Patients <65 years - 10-30 mg once, depending on pain severity.
Patients >65 years or with renal impairment - 10-15 mg once.
Toradol tablets may be prescribed once or repeatedly, at fixed intervals or as needed.
