Indications:

Azimicin 500 mg film-coated tablets are indicated for the treatment of infections caused by azithromycin-sensitive microorganisms, including:

  • Upper respiratory tract infections: bacterial pharyngitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis

  • Acute otitis media

  • Lower respiratory tract infections: acute bronchitis, exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, mild to moderate pneumonia including interstitial pneumonia

  • Skin and soft tissue infections: erysipelas, impetigo, secondary purulent dermatitis; erythema migrans (early symptom of Lyme disease); moderate common acne (adults only)

  • Sexually transmitted infections: uncomplicated infections caused by Chlamydia trachomatis

Administration:

Always use this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you are unsure, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
The medication is taken orally.

Dosage for adults, elderly, and children over 45 kg:
For upper and lower respiratory tract infections, otitis media, skin and soft tissue infections (including erythema migrans and common acne):
The total dose of azithromycin is 1.5 g over 3 days (500 mg once daily). Alternatively, the same total dose (1500 mg) may be taken over 5 days: 500 mg on the first day and 250 mg from the second to the fifth day.

Erythema migrans:
The total dose is 3 g, taken as 1 g on the first day (two 500 mg film-coated tablets), then 500 mg (one film-coated tablet) once daily from the second to the fifth day.

Moderate common acne (adults only):
The total dose is 6 g, recommended as one 500 mg film-coated tablet once daily for 3 days, followed by one 500 mg film-coated tablet once weekly for the next 9 weeks. On the second week of therapy, the medication should be taken 7 days after the first dose, and the subsequent eight doses at 7-day intervals.
Due to the high doses of azithromycin in this regimen, liver enzyme function monitoring is necessary before and during treatment.
This cyclic treatment (3 days + 9 weeks) should be used only once in individual patients, as there are no controlled clinical studies demonstrating the safety and efficacy of repeated cycles for common acne.

Uncomplicated infections caused by Chlamydia trachomatis:
1 g (two 500 mg film-coated tablets) as a single dose.

Patients with renal or hepatic impairment:
Inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver function impairment, as dose adjustment may be necessary. The medication should not be used in patients with severe hepatic impairment.

Usage instructions:
Azithromycin is taken orally once daily.
Azimicin 500 mg film-coated tablets may be taken with or without food. Tablets must be swallowed whole.
