Atropine sulfate is used to dilate the pupil during fundus examination and to achieve accommodation paralysis for determining the eye’s natural refraction.
1 ml contains 10 mg atropine sulfate;
Excipients: sodium metabisulfite (E 223), sodium chloride, purified water.
Diagnostic pupil dilation for fundus examination, determining natural refraction of the eye to achieve accommodation paralysis, complex therapy of inflammatory eye diseases, injuries, central retinal artery embolism, and spasms.
For treatment, adults and children over 7 years old are prescribed 1-2 drops 2-6 times daily. Maximum pupil dilation from atropine, which relaxes eye muscles and accelerates regression of pathological processes, appears after 30-40 minutes and lasts for 7-10 days. Accommodation paralysis develops after 1-3 hours and lasts for 8-12 days.
Children: Not used in children under 7 years. Lower concentrations (0.125%, 0.25%, 0.5%) are used for children.
Hypersensitivity to the drug components.
Cardiovascular diseases where increased heart rate may be undesirable: atrial fibrillation, tachycardia, chronic heart failure, ischemic heart disease, mitral stenosis, severe arterial hypertension.
Acute bleeding. Thyrotoxicosis. Hyperthermic syndrome. Gastrointestinal diseases with obstruction (achalasia, pyloric stenosis, intestinal atony).
Glaucoma. Liver and kidney failure. Myasthenia gravis. Urinary retention or tendency to it. Brain injury.
Use is contraindicated during pregnancy.
During breastfeeding, systemic effects may occur, and atropine passes into breast milk, potentially causing respiratory depression and drowsiness in the infant. Use during breastfeeding is contraindicated due to the risk of toxic effects on the child.
Store in original packaging at no more than 25°C.
Keep out of reach of children.
