Treatment for Erectile Dysfunction
Treatment of erectile dysfunction, defined as the inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual performance.
Sexual stimulation is required for the specific effect of sildenafil.
The medication is not indicated for use in women.
Tablets are taken orally.
Adults: The recommended dose is 50 mg, taken as needed approximately 1 hour before sexual activity.
Depending on efficacy and tolerability, the dose may be increased to 100 mg or decreased to 25 mg.
The maximum recommended dose is 100 mg, and the maximum frequency of administration is once daily.
When taken with food, the onset of sildenafil’s effect may be delayed compared to fasting administration.
Concurrent use with nitrates is contraindicated, as sildenafil enhances the hypotensive effect of nitrates (e.g., nitric oxide donors, amyl nitrite).
Should not be used in patients for whom sexual activity is inadvisable, particularly those with severe cardiovascular conditions (e.g., unstable angina, severe heart failure).
Also contraindicated in:
Severe hepatic or renal impairment
