Amlodipine 10 mg is indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension) or certain types of chest pain, known as angina.
Each 10 mg Amlodipine Normon tablet contains 10 mg of the active ingredient amlodipine (as besilate).
Other excipients include: microcrystalline cellulose, anhydrous calcium hydrogen phosphate, sodium carboxymethyl potato starch (potato starch), and magnesium stearate.
Amlodipine Normon is used for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension) and certain types of chest pain called angina, including the less common Prinzmetal’s (variant) angina.
In hypertension, this medication dilates blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily through them. In patients with angina, Amlodipine Normon tablets improve blood supply to the heart muscle, allowing it to receive more oxygen and helping to prevent chest pain. This medication does not provide rapid relief of chest pain during an angina attack.
Always take the medication exactly as prescribed by a doctor or pharmacist. If unsure, consult your healthcare provider.
The initial dose is usually 5 mg once daily, which may be increased to 10 mg once daily if necessary.
The medication can be taken with or without food, but it should be taken at the same time each day with a glass of water.
Avoid consuming grapefruit juice while taking Amlodipine Normon.
For children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 years, the recommended starting dose is 2.5 mg once daily, with a maximum dose of 5 mg daily.
The 2.5 mg dose is currently not available, and splitting the 5 mg tablets is not recommended because they are not designed to be divided into equal doses.
