It reduces swelling, hyperemia, and secretion, and makes breathing through the nose
The active substance is naphazoline nitrate.
1 ml of 0.1% solution contains 1 mg of naphazoline nitrate.
1 drop of the 0.1% solution contains 0.032 mg of naphazoline nitrate.
Other ingredients: boric acid and water for injection.
Naphthyzin is a topical nasal decongestant that causes vasoconstriction, reduces swelling, hyperemia, and secretion. It makes breathing through the nose easier.
It is used for the treatment of acute rhinitis (runny nose) and sinusitis (inflammation of the sinuses).
Naphthyzin may also be used during diagnostic procedures to reduce swelling.
If you do not feel better after 5–7 days, or if your condition worsens (or after 3 days in children), consult a doctor.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
There is currently insufficient information on whether naphazoline crosses the placental barrier or passes into breast milk. This medicine should be used only if necessary.
When used at therapeutic doses, this medicine does not affect the ability to drive or operate machinery.
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as instructed by your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse. If you are unsure, ask your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse.
Before first use, open the cap by pressing it firmly. Do not twist the bottle or pierce it with foreign objects, as this may cause damage. The built-in spike will create the opening.
Do not cut the bottle or pierce it with foreign objects, as this may result in administering more drops than necessary (since one drop may become too large).
Remove the cap and instill the solution into the nose by gently pressing the bottle. Before use, hold the bottle in your hand to warm it to body temperature. After use, close the cap tightly and store according to instructions.
Instill Naphthyzin into each nostril. Tilt your head slightly backward and to the right to instill into the left nostril, and to the left for the right nostril.
For adults and adolescents aged 15 years and older: 1–3 drops in each nostril, 2–3 times a day.
Use 2–3 times daily, but not more frequently than every 6 hours.
The medicine should be used for a short period.
Do not use for more than 5–7 days in adults and adolescents over 15 years, and no more than 3 days in children.
If symptoms improve, treatment may be stopped earlier.
Treatment may be repeated after 7–14 days.
Naphthyzin is not used in children under 15 years of age.
Adolescents from 15 years can use Naphthyzin 0.1%.
Keep this medicine out of reach of children.
Store at temperatures up to 25°C.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the package after “EXP”. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Use within 28 days after first opening of the bottle.
