Pharmacological Group:

 Progestogen; synthetic analog of natural progesterone

Indications:

 Used for conditions caused by luteal phase deficiency:

• Dysmenorrhea, menorrhagia, secondary amenorrhea
  
  

• Hormone replacement therapy in combination with estrogen
  
  

• Contraception (alone or with estrogen, individually prescribed)
  
  

• Endometriosis
  
  

• Certain forms of hirsutism
  
  

• Palliative treatment of metastatic endometrial cancer; breast and kidney cancer
  
  

• Natural progesterone is also used during assisted reproduction and in luteal phase deficiency
  
  

Dosage:

• Usually 10–20 mg per day
  
  

• Dosage depends on the patient’s clinical condition and therapeutic response
  
  

• Use strictly according to a doctor’s prescription
  
  

Contraindications:

• Vaginal bleeding of unknown origin
  
  

• Arterial hypertension
  
  

• Liver failure
  
  

• Use as a diagnostic test for pregnancy
  
  

• Recurrent miscarriage
  
  

• Breast or genital tumors (unless prescribed for palliative therapy)
  
  

• Current or past thrombophlebitis and thromboembolism
  
  

• Hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation
  
  

Pregnancy:

• Can be used during assisted reproduction
  
  

• If pregnancy occurs during treatment, the patient should be informed of potential fetal risks
  
  

Lactation:

• Progestogens pass into breast milk; not recommended during breastfeeding
  
  

Children:

• Not recommended
  
  

Driving and Operating Machinery:

• Does not affect the ability to drive or operate machinery
