Elcoprazole capsules are indicated for the treatment of stomach and duodenal ulcers, hyperacidity caused by pancreatic tumors, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
The active substance is Elcoprazole.
Elcoprazole capsules are available in two strengths, containing 20 mg or 40 mg of esomeprazole (as sodium salt).
Elcoprazole is used in the treatment of the following conditions:
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD):A condition in which acid from the stomach flows back into the esophagus (the tube connecting the throat to the stomach), causing inflammation, chest pain, and heartburn.
Stomach and duodenal ulcers caused byHelicobacter pyloriinfection:
In such cases, your doctor may also prescribe antibiotics to treat the infection and heal the ulcer.
Gastric ulcers caused by NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs):
Elcoprazole is also used to prevent the development of NSAID-induced ulcers.
Hyperacidity caused by pancreatic tumors (Zollinger-Ellison syndrome).
Long-term treatment following intravenous esomeprazole for the prevention of recurrent bleeding in peptic ulcers.
GERD: Same as in adults.
Ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection, treated with antibiotics in combination.

Long-term use of this medicine (especially over one year) requires medical supervision.
Inform your doctor of any change in your symptoms during treatment.
Your doctor will determine the appropriate dose and duration of therapy based on your condition, age, and liver function.
GERD with mild esophageal damage:
40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. If symptoms persist, the same dose may be continued for another 4 weeks.
After healing of esophageal damage:
20 mg once daily for maintenance therapy.
GERD without esophageal damage:
20 mg once daily. If symptoms are well-controlled, your doctor may advise you to take the medication as needed, up to one 20 mg capsule per day.
In patients with severe liver impairment:
A lower dose may be prescribed.
Treatment and prevention ofHelicobacter pylori-induced ulcers:
20 mg twice daily for one week.
Your doctor will also prescribe antibiotics such as amoxicillin and clarithromycin.
NSAID-induced gastric ulcer:
20 mg once daily for 4 to 8 weeks.
Prevention of NSAID-induced gastric ulcer:
20 mg once daily.
Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome (hyperacidity caused by pancreatic tumors):
40 mg twice daily.
Your doctor may adjust the dose as needed.
Maximum dose: 80 mg twice daily.
Maintenance therapy after intravenous treatment for peptic ulcer bleeding:
40 mg once daily for 4 weeks.
GERD with mild esophageal damage:
40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. May be extended by another 4 weeks if not resolved.
After healing of esophageal damage:
20 mg once daily.
GERD without esophageal damage:
20 mg once daily. May be used as needed under medical supervision.
Severe liver impairment:
Dose adjustment may be required.
H. pylori-associated ulcers:
20 mg twice daily for 1 week with antibiotics.
Capsules may be taken at any time of the day.
May be taken with or without food.
Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water.
Do not chew or crush the capsule or its contents, as it contains enteric-coated granules that protect the medicine from stomach acid.
Open the capsule and empty the granules into a glass of non-carbonated water.
Do not use any other liquids.
Stir the mixture and drink it immediately or within 30 minutes.
Stir again before drinking.
To ensure full dosage, rinse the glass with half a glass of water and drink it as well.
The granules should not be chewed or crushed.
If swallowing is not possible at all:
The granules can be mixed with a small amount of water and administered via a syringe through a gastric tube (G-tube) directly into the stomach.
Elcoprazole is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age.
No dose adjustment is required in elderly patients.
Store at temperatures below 30°C.
Keep in the original packaging to protect from moisture.
