It is used for the local treatment of superficial bacterial infections of the eye caused by microorganisms sensitive to levofloxacin.
1 ml of solution contains:
Active ingredient: 5.12 mg of levofloxacin hemihydrate, equivalent to 5 mg of levofloxacin.
Excipients: Benzalkonium chloride, sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide or hydrochloric acid (for pH adjustment), water for injection.
Aiflox is indicated for the local treatment of superficial bacterial infections of the eye caused by microorganisms sensitive to levofloxacin in patients aged 1 year and older.
Aiflox is indicated for use in adults, children aged 1 to 12 years, and adolescents aged 12 to 18 years.
For all patients: During the first two days, apply 1–2 drops in the affected eye every 2 hours while awake, up to 8 times per day. From day 3 to day 5, instill 4 times per day.
If other topical ophthalmic medications are being used simultaneously, an interval of at least 15 minutes should be maintained between instillations.
To avoid contamination of the dropper and solution, the dropper tip should not touch the eyelids or surrounding areas.
The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the condition and the clinical and bacteriological course of the infection. Typically, treatment lasts 5 days.
The safety and efficacy of Aiflox in the treatment of corneal ulcers and neonatal ophthalmia have not been established.
Use in children under 1 year of age is not recommended due to lack of safety and efficacy data.
No dosage adjustment is required for elderly patients.
Children:
The dosage is the same for adults and children aged 1 year and older.
The safety and efficacy of Aiflox in children under 1 year of age have not been established. No data are available.
Use in the Elderly:
No dose adjustment is necessary.
Method of Administration:
For topical use only, for instillation into the eye.
Pregnancy:
There are insufficient data on the use of levofloxacin in pregnant women. Animal studies do not indicate direct or indirect harmful effects regarding reproductive toxicity. The potential risk to humans is unknown. Aiflox may be prescribed during pregnancy only if the potential benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
Breastfeeding:
Levofloxacin is excreted in human breast milk. However, at therapeutic doses, no effects on the breastfed infant are expected. Aiflox may be used during lactation only if the potential benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the infant.
Fertility:
Levofloxacin did not affect fertility in rats at doses significantly higher than the maximum human ophthalmic dose.
