Ezetimibe Denk is used in patients whose cholesterol levels cannot be adequately reduced by a cholesterol-lowering diet alone.
Ezetimibe Denk 10 mg Tablets
The active substance is ezetimibe. Each tablet contains 10 mg of ezetimibe.
Other ingredients: Lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate (Ph.Eur.) [vegetable], povidone (K29/32), sodium dodecyl sulfate, sodium croscarmellose.
Ezetimibe Denk is used to lower total cholesterol, “bad” cholesterol (LDL), and fats (called triglycerides) in the blood. Additionally, it increases the level of “good” cholesterol (HDL).
Ezetimibe Denk is used in patients whose cholesterol levels cannot be controlled by a cholesterol-lowering diet alone. You should continue following a cholesterol-lowering diet during treatment with this medicine.
Ezetimibe Denk works by reducing the absorption of cholesterol in the digestive tract.
Note: Ezetimibe Denk is not intended for weight loss or weight maintenance.
Ezetimibe Denk is used alongside a cholesterol-lowering diet:
When cholesterol levels in the blood are high (primary [heterozygous familial and non-familial] hypercholesterolemia);
With statins, when statins alone are not sufficient to reduce cholesterol levels;
As monotherapy, if statins are not suitable for you or are not well tolerated;
If you have a certain inherited condition that causes high cholesterol levels in the blood (homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia). In such cases, you may also be prescribed a statin and other treatments as appropriate.
If you have cardiovascular disease, taking Ezetimibe Denk along with a statin can help reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, surgery to improve blood flow to the heart, or hospitalization due to chest pain.
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has instructed. If you are unsure about anything, consult them.
Continue taking your other cholesterol-lowering medications unless your doctor tells you to stop.
Before starting treatment with Ezetimibe Denk, you should already be on a cholesterol-lowering diet. This diet should be continued throughout the treatment.
The recommended dose of Ezetimibe Denk is one 10 mg tablet once daily.
You can take it at any time of the day, with or without food.
If your doctor has prescribed Ezetimibe Denk together with a statin, you may take both medications at the same time. Please follow the dosage instructions for the statin as outlined in its leaflet.
If your doctor has prescribed Ezetimibe Denk together with cholestyramine or another bile acid sequestrant (a medicine that lowers cholesterol), take Ezetimibe Denk at least 2 hours before or 4 hours after the bile acid sequestrant.
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant, consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.
Do not take Ezetimibe Denk with statins if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or think you may be pregnant.
If you become pregnant while taking Ezetimibe Denk and a statin, stop taking both medicines immediately and inform your doctor.
There is no clinical experience with the use of Ezetimibe Denk without a statin during pregnancy.
If you are pregnant, consult your doctor before taking it.
Do not take Ezetimibe Denk with statins while breastfeeding, as it is unknown whether the active substances pass into breast milk.
Also, avoid taking Ezetimibe Denk without a statin during breastfeeding unless directed by your doctor.
Always consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine.
Ezetimibe Denk is not expected to affect your ability to drive or use machines.
However, note that some people may experience dizziness after taking it.
Please take Ezetimibe Denk only after consulting your doctor if you know you have an intolerance to certain sugars.
Each tablet containsless than 1 mmol (23 mg) of sodium, meaning it is essentially “sodium-free.”
Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
No special storage conditions are required for this medicinal product.
