DIMETINDENE
Dimetindene
Antihistamine, anti-allergic and anti-itch agent
Oral drops: 20 ml vial
1 ml (20 drops) – Dimetindene maleate 1 mg
Excipients: Methylparahydroxybenzoate (preservative E218), ethanol, dehydrogenated phosphate, sodium dihydrate, sorbitol, purified water
Gel for external use: 30 g tube
1 g – Dimetindene maleate 1 mg
Excipients: Benzalkonium chloride, sodium edetate, Carbopol 974 P (Carbomer 934P), propylene glycol, sodium hydroxide, purified water
Symptomatic treatment of allergic conditions:
Urticaria
Seasonal allergic rhinitis
Drug- and food-induced allergies
Itching associated with cholestasis and other skin conditions with rash
Insect bites
Gel is used for sun erythema and superficial burns
Adults and children over 12 years:
Total daily dose: 3–6 mg (60–120 drops), divided into three doses
20–40 drops three times a day
For patients prone to drowsiness: 40 drops at bedtime (with dinner), 20 drops in the morning
Children aged 1–12 years: Doses vary according to age; administration frequency – three times a day
Gel: Apply to affected skin areas 2–4 times daily
Note:
Drops should not be exposed to high temperatures
For children, drops are added directly before feeding or can be given undiluted with a teaspoon
Drops:
Drowsiness (common, especially at the beginning of treatment)
Rare: gastrointestinal disturbances, dry mouth, dizziness, headache, peripheral edema, skin rash, muscle spasms, respiratory disturbances
Gel:
Temporary dryness or mild burning of the skin
Rare: skin rash, itching
Any unusual reaction should prompt consultation with a doctor
Hypersensitivity to Dimetindene or any components of the formulation
Closed-angle glaucoma
Urinary retention disorders (e.g., prostate hypertrophy)
Drops are not indicated for infants under 1 month, especially preterm babies
First trimester of pregnancy
