Senade Neo Composition: Calcium salts of sennosides A and B — 13.5 mg (as senna leaf extract).
Excipients: lactose, corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, povidone, sodium lauryl sulfate, methylparaben, talc, magnesium stearate. The product is prepared on the basis of senna leaves extract (Cassia acutifolia Del.; family – Fabaceae).
Pharmacological action: The preparation stimulates the receptors of the large intestine and reflexively enhances peristalsis, which leads to faster bowel evacuation and restoration of normal intestinal function. Does not cause dependence and does not interfere with digestion. The effect begins 8–10 hours after administration.
Indications for use: Used in complex therapy as an auxiliary remedy. Constipation caused by hypotonia of the large intestine and reduced peristalsis. Regulation of bowel function in cases of hemorrhoids, proctitis, and anal fissures.
Dosage and administration: Administered orally, usually once daily at bedtime with water. Adults and children over 12 years: 1 tablet per dose. If the effect is insufficient, the dose may be increased to 2–3 tablets. Children 6–12 years: ½ tablet per dose, and if necessary the dose may be increased to 1–2 tablets.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation; intestinal obstruction, strangulated hernia, acute inflammatory diseases of the abdominal organs, peritonitis, gastrointestinal bleeding, metrorrhagia, cystitis, spastic colitis, disturbances of water-electrolyte balance. Use with caution during pregnancy and lactation, in children under 6 years of age, and in the postoperative period.
Side effects: The laxative effect may be accompanied by cramp-like abdominal pain. Overdose and prolonged use may cause diarrhea.
Special warnings: During treatment, urine may take on a yellow-brown or reddish-violet color. This should not cause concern: the natural color returns after discontinuation of treatment. Use of “Senade Neo” tablets is not recommended for more than 2 weeks.
Overdose: In case of overdose, diarrhea may occur, which can lead to dehydration. In such cases, increased fluid intake is required.
Pregnancy and lactation: Use during pregnancy and lactation is permitted only after assessing the benefit–risk ratio.
Interactions with other medicinal products: Long-term use in high doses may enhance the effect of cardiac glycosides and may influence the action of antiarrhythmic drugs by increasing the risk of hypokalemia.
Storage conditions: Store in a dry, light-protected place at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Do not use the product after the expiration date or if any defects are detected during visual inspection.
