Used for the treatment of gout, a condition caused by excessive accumulation of uric acid (urate) in the body.
Some people have too much uric acid in their blood, which becomes insoluble. As a result, urate crystals may form and accumulate in the joints and kidneys.
This process can lead to sudden joint pain, redness, swelling, and increased temperature (gout attack).
If left untreated, these crystals can form larger masses called tophi, which may damage joints and bones.
